Traditionally, respite is seen as an opportunity for carers to have a break – the break may b e needed so they can rest, focus on their own health or to see to other personal matters.
Whilst the benefit of respite was initially focused on the carers; it has since been learned that respite in fact has more benefits for the person receiving the care. At Synovum Care Centres the benefits we see are:
- Participation in an extensive activities program, keeping their minds active
- Socialisation during activities and meals
- Stimulation through a change of scenery
- New friendships – with residents and staff
- A sense of belonging to a group outside of their usual network
The Basic Daily Care Respite Fee includes the following services:
- Meals
- Activities
- Laundry
- Medication management
- Personal care support
- Physiotherapy review and exercise plan
For an additional fee we can coordinate hairdressing, podiatry, transport to appointments and other services as required.
